Irina Werning has created a really interesting series called "Back to the future". Werning reenacted the subjects' childhood photos in their current image today. Details and props are strikingly accurate, and the series manage to produce a time-machine effect, taking us through several years of a person's life in a single diptych.

The thing I enjoyed the most, after being absolutely amazed by the technical aspects of the photographs, is the subtle differences between the photographs placed next to each other. The camera pulled back and the frame becomes a little bigger because 'nico' got taller and has grown bigger. The flooring is changed in ''lali in 1978 & 2010'', the frame on the wall changed as well. etc.. I am interested in what these changes hint at.
ReplyDeleteThe comparison becomes a pleasure.
